£7,624 raised for life education

34 teams battled it out at the Big Quiz, at AFC Bournemouth on Thursday 22nd March and raised an incredible £7,624 between them for Life Education Wessex.

The winning team was Brian’s trust which scooped the prized trophy.  In at a close second was LAPD and Damory Coaches took third place.

Lorraine Hewitt Fundraising Manager who organised the event said: “It was a huge success and really good fun. Thank you to everyone who took part. The money raised from this evening will mean that 2,412 local children will learn about making healthy choices with ‘Harold’ the Giraffe on the Life Bus.

“The need for life education has never been more important with continued reports highlighting the health of our nation and particularly that of our children. Without government funding we are completely self financing.  Events like this Big Quiz and community and corporate support mean we can continue to provide young children with the education and knowledge to help them make healthy choices as they grow up.”

The lively and entertaining Quizmaster, Nigel Hedges of Bourne Engraving put the teams through their paces all competing for the coveted Big Quiz trophy.  There were lots of quality prizes up for grabs for the winning teams and  with a fantastic auction and raffle prizes on offer there was a lot to compete for.

Lead sponsors of the event were Hot Radio, Humphries Kirk and Mazars.  The evening was also assisted by a team of nine volunteers from Barclays Bank who helped with the organisation of the night and who helped to secure additional funds which meant that the financial target for the event was exceeded.
