Fine food and fancy dress for WaterAid
Women from Soroptimist International of Bournemouth got into the spirit of International Women’s Day on 8th March wearing international dress and enjoying dishes from around the globe that they each prepared and raised £215 for WaterAid.
SI Bournemouth member, Yvonne Fairchild explained: “We always celebrate International Women’s Day. This year it was a great way for us all to get together at one of the member’s homes and raise more money. We tried our hands at cooking and tasting food from different countries, getting dressed up and had some fun. The money we raised is enough to pay for two toolkits to maintain a village water point in Madagascar. That can make a huge difference to the people there and access to clean safe water can save lives.”
March 22nd is World Water Day. 884 million people live without access to safe water across the globe. WaterAid is one of the nominated charities of Soroptimist International clubs across Great Britain and Ireland.
